Pavel belan

Experimentalist, romantic and socially-minded sculptor Pavel Belan seeks to embody in his works themes that concern him, phenomena of interest and works of art that inspire him. His exhibition history includes projects relating to the work of Yegor Letov, while among the artists who have influenced him, the sculptor singles out Petrov-Vodkin, Henry Moore, the masters of old Vladimir and, of contemporary artists, Tony Cragg. Pavel’s works are exhibited in public spaces, dedicated to prominent cultural figures and commemorative dates.
The sculptor is fond of experiments at the intersection of technology and natural phenomena, art form and materials.

In his work he explores the links between art-form development and natural, organic processes. Among other materials, the sculptor uses metals, composite materials, foil, wood, assembly foam. In his works there is a noticeable craving to embody the very process of movement, the dynamics of disintegration and assembly. The materials seem to exist within the art form in their own independent, artist-supported movement. The plural, excessive form is now united in a single compositional and colouristic burst, then it disintegrates into hundreds of single movements, sometimes hovering in space, sometimes on the contrary compressed into a "closed", unambiguous figure. These objects, which seem to be growing and interacting with the space themselves, are fascinating to watch. They allow you to sense a genuine, direct movement of artistic materials and form. In doing so, the sculptor makes his small contribution to the development of a meta-modernist movement which he says will shape the future of art in each piece!
